Tasting Note

Tasting notes

This wine is vibrant magenta in colour with purple and crimson hues. The nose shows lifted wild berries and cherries. There is also wonderfully lifted perfume of lavender, nutmeg and cloves with the gentlest hint of black pepper. The palate is rich, ripe, generous and soft. The dominant flavours are mulberry, blueberry and plum. These are supported by a nutty cashew like oak and soft, subtle and long tannins.

This wine is best matched with rare roast beef, venison pie or hard cheeses.

Nestled in the hillsides of New South Whales, Mudgee is one of Australia’s most prominent winemaking regions. In Mudgee, over 100 acres’ vineyards have been planted yielding a range of red varieties including Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Durif, Zinfandel, Malbec, and Petit Verdot. At Anderson Winery, each grape is carefully selected for intense flavour and colour and fermented by hand. The wine is then transferred to American and French oak barrels and aged for 12 months. The winemaking process concludes at a boutique winery in the Hunter Valley where the wine is bottled, labelled and waxed by hand to ensure the highest quality and standard.
